The Monster Maths –
yes it's The Monnnnnnnnnnster Maths!
The Monster Maths are abstract math monsters constructed from mathematical constants and stored fully onchain. The pumpkins, for example, are "pumpkin pi" -- they are created by coloring the digits of pi in sequence.
The regular sizes come in 11 color patterns, which are created through a cyclic permutation of the palette-digit mapping. Each series also has a Giant, based on one of those 11 permutations.
And each monster hides part of an embedded puzzle, as described below.
Pumpkins, ghosts, and monsters are available at prices corresponding to their underlying mathematical constants:
There will be a short private inquiry period during the day on Halloween (10/31), and then most of the remaining pumpkins, ghosts, and monsters will be listed for public sale. I expect to hold a couple of each back for people who are specifically interested in collecting complete sets. Red dots indicate pieces that have already been reserved (although these are updated manually, so some pieces may be reserved but not yet indicated as such.)
I recommend trying to solve the puzzles -- they're fun!
But if you really don't want to do that:
🧟 The giant zombie is available for private sale.
🔲 Members of my "all-squared" collectors circle were gifted one math monster each, and were allowed to select from any of the categories, including zombies. This option remains open to new all squared collectors until supply runs out.
➡️ If you DM me and ask really nicely, there's a small but non-zero chance we can work out some other arrangement. It may involve me coaching you through solving the puzzles 😉.
The pumpkin, ghost, monster, and skeleton series include hidden puzzles that make use of the 11 regular tokens in the series, as well as the series Giant. You can solve them!
These are enigmatic puzzles, which means that they are presented without instructions, including regarding what the actual objective of the puzzle is.
To start, you should download the SVG versions that are stored fully onchain. Puzzle elements are primarily located "behind" the math monster image, although they may interact with the image itself, and/or other data.
Metadata traits are not part of any of the puzzles, nor are any features of the token deployment process such as the minting times. Beyond that, any other data or content associated to the token is fair game.
You're not doomed at all! These puzzles are designed with the intent that they should be solvable even by first time puzzle solvers. They do have varying levels of difficulty, however. If you've never solved this style of puzzle before, I recommend starting with the ghost puzzle.
Plus you are welcome to work on them with friends -- talking through puzzles with others is a great way to (1) have more fun and (2) avoid getting too stuck.
When you think you have solved one of the puzzles, please DM me, and I will confirm whether your answer is right or not.
If you think you are completely stuck, please feel free to DM me your progress, and what you are stuck on, and I might give you a bit of puzzle coaching.
If I were to answer "yes" to this question, then they wouldn't be secret anymore, would they?
This gallery page is not currently a puzzle.
Possibly. Please DM if interested.
